Powder Injection Molding PIM

The Wittmann Battenfeld Powder Injection Molding is a process that manufactures metallic or ceramic parts in a series production. This is the ideal process to manufacture complex and functional parts in large quantities with high material requirements. The PIM is a multi-stage process consisting of compounding the feedstock from a powder and a binder system, molding of the “green parts”, removal of the binder system for the “brown or white parts”, and sintering the “brown parts” to get the final product.

Its components include special wear resistant screws and barrels adapted to the feedstock used, special screw geometries, a temperature controlled feed throat, and a special hopper.
