AIRMOULD® Internal Gas Pressure Technology
The AIRMOULD® technology developed by Wittmann Battenfeld is a patented gas-assisted injection molding process that offers a better surface finish and higher dimensional stability. The process involves melting the injection into the cavity, Injecting nitrogen into the melt through the machine nozzle or through nozzles in the mold, and then completely filling the cavity. Next gas pressure is maintained until the part being created is sufficiently cooled and has reached dimensional stability, where the gas pressure is reduced prior to opening the mold.
The AIRMOULD® system includes nitrogen generators, which filter nitrogen from the surrounding atmosphere through a multi membrane system. A pressure generator, which compresses the nitrogen to an operating pressure of 300 bar. A stationary or mobile control system, which can be combined with up to 8 pressure control modules. The last part is a gas injection, which combines with plastic material through the machine nozzle.
